-Last Friday before X-mas!!!
Word Is Born Christmas Special featuring:

-FUR
8-piece all-live hip-hop ensemble from London that cite Slum Village, The Roots & Homeboy Sandman as influences on their sound.

…they produce the sort of music I love writing about; original, tasteful output with outreach to a much broader audience. Indeed, their sound aims to transcend the monolithic entity of UK hip-hop by bridging traditional and modern musical styles from all over the globe”. Tom Clements – Independent UK Hip-Hop Blogger

Expect special guest performances from Strangelove, Ogmios & John Digger.

-Flying Ibex
They listen to old African pop cassettes and Brazilian Maracatu, mess around with delay pedals, and generally run down avenues of sound that are potentially as weird as they are potentially accessible.

You can either deep-sea-dive into the songs or try and untangle yourself from the perfectly executed, uncivilized beats. Whatever you choose to do, the songs will stick in your mind and the band will serve you up an irresistable feast of wayward groove.

It’s all still £3, still ridiculously high-quality live music from hip-hop to folk to jazz with stellar tune selection from the resident Word Is Born DJs. Still ending the night with the ever rowdy Word Is Born jam – featuring some of the best musicians, rappers and singers in London. Come down, jump up and get involved!

The Magic Lantern
Magic Lantern is the moniker of London based musician Jamie Doe (b. 1985 Canberra, Australia) who writes songs that sound deceptively spare and starkly beautiful, but which open up to reveal a warmth, humour and wisdom that belies his age.
